New Divorce Book Fills Need

BEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA--Informed consumers are representing themselves in family matters by choice. Industrious people who want to have more control over their family law cases are following this trend. Certified Family Law Specialist* Debra Vaniman Crawford has met the needs of these informed consumers of legal services with her new book Divorce 123, A Client’s Guide to California Divorce. This book provides practical advice, directs people through the divorce process, and gives detailed step-by-step instructions for completing court forms. Ms. Crawford provides sample forms throughout the book. The book’s usefulness is increased by appendices that include a directory of California Courts, directory of legal services, sample agreements, and a glossary of terms. In a unique approach, purchasers of the book have the option of receiving advice about their cases from Ms. Crawford.

Author Debra Vaniman Crawford is a Certified Family Law Specialist*. She has been practicing family law for more than fifteen years. Throughout her career she has helped thousands of people prepare and file documents in divorce cases saving them thousands of dollars in legal fees. Her clients much appreciate her concern and helpfulness. While many attorneys prefer to keep their clients "in the dark" about their cases, Ms. Crawford believes that education of the client is foremost. Ms. Crawford’s devotion to the education of clients’ inspired her to write Divorce 123. This devotion also led to Ms. Crawford’s development of an educational family law Web site, www.Divorce-123.com that features chapter one of Divorce 123 as one of the articles provided for public use.

Ms. Crawford provides the option of "unbundled" legal services to her clients that affords them the ability to obtain assistance for separate and distinct tasks. The client is in charge of the extent of services rendered.

Ms. Crawford is a partner in the law firm of Crawford and Crawford with her husband William A. Crawford. Ms. Crawford has been a volunteer attorney at the Women’s Legal Clinic and served on its board of directors for many years. She is presently the co-director of public relations and a member of the board of directors for the Coalition for Cooperative Divorce. The Coalition for Cooperative Divorce is a Southern California-based organization of divorce professionals devoted to guiding people through the divorce process in a non-adversarial manner.
