Debra :)Help! We were married in LA, got divorced in LA 1986 he stopped paying the orderd suppor, he quit his job and did not pay the child support, with my wonderful atorney we summond him back in to court, he then dissapierd, I got stuck finnacialy, i took the kids to England to my Mom for 9 months while i worked in LA. I brought the kids back to LA, I went to the DA here during that time, they gave me a Case #, I found out my X address in IOWA and gave it to the DA in CA. In 1989 Nov, a promotion at my work moved us to Texas, The DA (cal) still did not get my child support so they connected with the 'child support collection recovery unit' in Iowa, They were able to attach his wages for a few months, He quit his job and went on unemployment, they even sent me part of his unemploymnt bennefit, Then he out of that state to Illinois, I found him again and notified the Department IA support 'collect unit' he filed bunckrupcy and sent me copies of the paper work, and he went back to school to be a Minister, he also purchased property under the nose of all creditors including The Recovery unit, in 1991 I got a note from the 'IA recovry unit' saying that the child support amount was reduced by 50% becouse my X went to Iowa court, and got a new order, with his attorney, Can they do that? The only reason why I went to the DA in CA was to havet them enforce and up hold my existing Court order, I never agreed to them representation of us, the children and i came back to CA in 1990 where we still live, I will not recognize, the IA order, The IA court never notified the CA court, my x now owes me about $100.000, the IA 'child support recovery colection unit' has been sending me what the modified order was, CAN THEY MODIFY MY SUPPORT ORDER IN OTHER STATE WITH OUT ME? your Web site is more help then anything; Thank you!
