It depends on whether it is before or after the judgment in the matter. Also, some things, like the initial Summons or a contempt must be personally served. Generally during the divorce case the attorney can be served except wtih things that require personal service. After the judgment is entered the party must be served with modification papers. It can be by mail, though, depending on the type of papers. Sorry, I can't be more specific without knowing what type of papers. Debra.
