I have temp. sole custody of our son. When I was awarded custody we were told that the child could not be taken out of the county I live in (San Diego) because of the history of violence and drug abuse by my ex-husband. It has been 3 years and the child's father has not taken advantage of his visitation rights. Now, the child's paternal grandmother wants us to visit her in Alabama for one week this summer. Prior to her moving there she had monthly contact with the child. What steps do I need to take to obtain permission to take the child out of state? Eventually I would like to take the child out of state on vacations as well.
