I lived with a man for 5 years (and supported him). I left in 1990 with our two children then 1 and 2 1/2. He has always played an actived role in their lives (I never kept the kids from him). We never went to court, and the kids have been my full responsibilty. They live with me full-time and their father does not (nor has he ever) given me child support. In the past ten years, I have accomplished alot. (MBA etc..) The girls are doing great. I am now involved with a wonderful man, who will likely ask me to marry him by this time next year. We live in LA and he lives in Huntington Beach. The children's father is freaking out....saying he will do whatever is necessary to take the children from me.....cause he doesn't want me to move (this hasn't even been determined yet!). I picked up the papers to file for paternity....etc... Do I need to be represented by an attorney? What are the chances, based on this scenario that he could get physical custody of the children? He works a part-time job, and has another daughter he doesn't support. Our kids are 11 1/2 and 13. Can he prevent me from moving 45 miles away a couple of years from now?
