Keep track of the payments that you make to your wife for support. Use checks if possible. If you pay cash, have her sign a receipt. Keep your "evidence" in a safe place so you'll have it if you need it. If your wife files with the family law court for child support she cannot get back payments past the date she files the motion for child support. If your wife goes through the district attorney and is receiving welfare, they can go back much further for back support. This is why evidence of payments is so crucial. Even if the District Attorney is not involved your evidence of payments made will show that you were taking responsibility for your daughter.
